What's the best approach to decorating a bedroom that has a sloped roof?

A bedroom with a sloped ceiling can make deciding on paint or wallpaper choices frustrating and furniture placement very difficult. However, by taking advantage of a room's awkward quirks, it can actually become a special and cozy space.

By keeping the wall colours soft, it will make the space feel larger and more unified, especially if the sloped ceiling starts below average ceiling height.

Keep window coverings simple and add warm wood tones to the room, with either wood flooring or a piece of furniture.

Layers of neutral bedding and a plush area rug will bring much needed texture and interest to the room and will go a long way to make the space feel restful.

If storage is an issue and standard bedroom furniture doesn't fit properly in the space, you may want to consider having something custom built which would meet your exact needs, add architectural interest and value to your home.

Finally, don't forget lighting! A mini chandelier would be unexpected and give the room a little jolt of glam, otherwise look for a bedside table lamp that has a little sparkle.
