Each as beautiful as the last, greeting cards are still popular. To show them off in a suitable setting, build this richly decorative board that is easy to make and requires few materials.

Steps:

  1. Paint the MDF sheet all over, as well as the mouldings, and let dry.
  2. Place the tulle on the MDF; stretch it to remove any creases and so it fits properly on the board. Do not cover the sides.
  3. Staple the tulle to the MDF no more than 1" from the edges. This will ensure the staples are hidden by the mouldings.
  4. Take the ribbon and cut two lengths of 40" and four lengths of 20".
  5. Stretch one length of 40" diagonally across the board, from corner to corner, over the tulle.
  6. Take two lengths of 20" ribbon and position them either side of the first ribbon at equal distances.
  7. Repeat with the remaining ribbons but in the opposite direction so that the ribbons form a criss-cross pattern.
  8. Staple the ribbons at each end, making sure they are tightly stretched.
  9. Arrange the mouldings around the edge to create a frame, and nail to the board.
  10. Conceal the holes with filler and touch up the paint where necessary.

Use your imagination to create your own display board: choose ribbons, tulle or paint to match the colours of the greeting cards you wish to put on view. Be creative and have fun!
