I would like to add a fresh look to my kitchen backsplash and counter top without undertaking huge renovations . Is it possible to install ceramic tiles over the existing backsplash? Regarding my counter top, is it possible to paint it or to cover it?

Installing a backsplash is a great way to add style, texture and colour to your kitchen. Although laying new ceramic tiles over top old ceramic tiles is not usually recommended, you can in fact lay tile over your laminate backsplash and counters. Laminate is a flat, hard surface, which makes it ideal for laying down and levelling tiles.

It is possible to paint countertops. New easy-to-use products specifically for this purpose have recently been introduced on the market, giving results that look just like brand new laminate counters. Some products offer varied colours, tones and textures that give the illusion of stone.
