Five steps to create your MDF textured wall, as seen in the 2011 authentic-style dining room.
We created a wall that looks like stone: we used MDF boards that we cut in various lengths and glued some of them together to make different thicknesses to create depth. We then installed each board at irregular intervals to give the wall a three dimensional effect. Once the boards are attached to the wall, you can apply a coat of primer and then paint it in the colour you want.
To build an MDF wall:
1. Choose three types of 4' x 8' MDF boards, but in different thicknesses: ¼", ½", ¾", cut in 8" widths.
2. Cut them in different lengths: 18", 3 ft and 4 ft.
3. Use finishing nails and a nail gun to nail them to the wall.
4. Apply a coat of primer.
5. Paint in the colour of your choice, using a small roller and paint brush.
