Who says that your home office has to be dreary and even depressing? Here are Jean de Lessard's top designer recommendations to create a professional and stylish, yet welcoming, office.

Forget the usual office building design, think more of a truly professional space in the comfort of your own home. A well-balanced and streamlined space will improve your concentration level and provide a welcoming place to think. Keep in mind the saying of the Bauhaus era: “Less is more”. Here are a few furniture designers whose creations will energize your work space.

Bouroullec

The Bouroullec brothers’ furniture is exactly what you need for a professional home office. Their “JOYN” furniture system, distributed by Vitra, was created over 8 years ago but, from a design perspective, is still totally current. It is light and simple and, when positioned in the centre of the work space, leaves plenty of room to move around.

Bouty

A good chair will allow you to work for hours without feeling any discomfort. Bouty, a Quebec company, has shifted towards innovation and efficiency with its SCOPE 3005 collection. Its chairs are comfortable and even the smallest mechanism is adjustable; it will meet the needs of any type of clientele. This chair is a « must » when you spend lots of time thinking and working hard.

Architectural Lighting Works

As for lighting, I recommend this small California company, Architectural Lighting Works. The products they distribute in Canada are efficient and feature both direct and indirect illumination. Their LPL model is delicate, extremely flexible and easy to install.
