As the Olympic champion and greatest swimmer in history adds to his collection of gold medals at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, we get a sneak peak where the olympic champion relaxes between training sessions.

As you might expect for a holder of numerous world records in swimming, Michael Phelps lives by the water, opposite Fells Point Marina, one of the most exclusive parts of his hometown of Baltimore.

His 4,080-square-foot condo has three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two powder rooms, plus two living rooms, an office and several guest bedrooms. A big house, certainly, but not eccentric. Far from being ostentatious like so many other celebrities, he has opted for simplicity and a minimalist urban style.

Remarkable for its modern, industrial design, his house uses a wide range of materials. The rustic wood floors, brick and cement walls, and metal stairs all combine perfectly to produce a warm and comfortable elegance. The richness of the materials is highlighted by the minimalist decor, high ceilings and spacious rooms. The contemporary furniture adds to the convivial atmosphere.

Generous windows provide wonderful light and offer a superb view of the marina. All four floors have access to the roof patio. With a barbecue area and spa, it’s a place where the Olympic champion can entertain his family and friends, and relax while taking advantage of the downtown and Fells Point location.
