The powder room is an important part of your home. Located on the main floor, it serves a crucial role in everyday activities in addition to being one of the most frequently visited areas of the home by guests. Here are four ways to dress up this busy space in order to make it an inviting and handsome component of your home decor.

1. Add personality with wallpaper

If there's one room that can be wallpapered without having to take the home's overall decor into consideration, it's the powder room. A universe in itself, feel free to give this space its own unique personality which also adds to the feeling of intimacy.

2. Style with tile

The use of ceramic tile is another way to jazz up the powder room walls and instantly transform the atmosphere. There are countless sizes, colours and designs to choose from, providing as many ways to make this room a distinctive part of your home. The ceramic tiles will add style and dynamism to the room.

3. Introduce original appliances and furnishings

Since the powder room is often quite small, decorative elements should be kept to a minimum. Instead of overloading the space with accessories, focus on the main components, such as the commode and sink, the door or the mirror. Replace a traditional white ceramic drop-in sink with one of many remarkable new sink designs that are now available or even invent your own! And don't hesitate to mix styles. For instance, both an antique and industrial-style mirror can be used to complement a modern decor. Keep in mind that even just a single stand-out feature can make all the difference.

4. Focus on lighting

In addition to being small, the powder room is often windowless, which makes lighting all the more important. A floor lamp or suspended lights will both fill and decorate the space while providing plenty of luminosity. Add a touch of warmth with a nightlight or candles that can remain lit in the evening, both to light the way and make the room more inviting.
