Paris Design Week is part of The Maison-Objet showing. It offers the best opportunity to follow the design itineraries in the city, where more than 100 exhibitions and galleries display the latest offerings in home design. Here are some of the essentials that cannot be missed!

Paris has a long history of decorative arts, and these itineraries offer thematic guided tours to help visitors customize their experience according to their own interests. These tours allow you to experience the highly interesting design concepts that exist in Paris all year round. The tours treat design as an essential part of the life of Paris, not simply as a temporary installation.

There are six different thematic tours: Art & Design, Design & Architecture, Iconic & Upcoming, Digital Design & Innovation, Design in France, and Food & Design. If you’re in town for Design Week next year, consider taking one of these tours through the art, design, and architecture of the beloved city of lights.

You could easily spend hours exploring the many possibilities in all of the Parisian districts. The Design & Architecture tour, a particularly interesting one, includes visits to Jean Nouvel Design, Quantum Glass’ A Glass House, and Atelier Pierre Bonnefille. The Art & Design itinerary features contemporary design galleries and museums, such as l’Institut du Monde Arabe, Fondation Cartier, and Galerie BSL

When planning your own itinerary, take into account these personal recommendations and make sure to visit these Rive Gauche design hotspots: Assouline is an excellent source of fashion, art, and design books, and is the ideal place to pick up gifts to bring back home.

Flamant Home Interiors sells hand-crafted furniture and antique objects that have been modernized for today’s use – a beautiful shop well worth the visit. You could easily spend a couple of hours perusing the finds at Galerie Salon, which features hand-picked vintage home décor items from France, Italy, and Sweden. And of course, don’t miss Hermès, which is newly opened in the Left Bank. The second-largest Hermès in the world, it is located in the former swimming pool of the Lutetia hotel!
