A place for everything and everything in its place! Bring order to your shed!

A backyard shed is, in its basic form, an extra storage place. Of course, to fully benefit from the practicality of a shed, you’ll need to organize it properly. Here are few tips for a well-organized shed.

Shelves

Whether you build your own out of vintage crates or buy ready made ones from the store, shelves are a must! However, they won't do any good if they’re cluttered and messy. Create a system with bins and baskets to hold everything from pots to twine to tulip bulbs and fertilizer.

Hanging System

A pegboard is an easy, no-fuss way to hang and organize both small and large items. Combined with baskets, this hanging system will allow you to store all your materials and tools, even on the walls!

Installing a sturdy and unobtrusive tool hanger will not only make it easy to find what you need but also free up floor space and prevent tools from becoming damaged. It’s also a good solution to keep the tools out of reach of the kids.

Creative Solutions

When it comes to storage, think outside the box:  an unused galvanized bucket can be turned into a hanger for a the yard hose and provide a nook to store the sprinkler!

PVC pipe can be cleverly cut to provide storage for small tools and paint brushes.

Once the cleanup and organizing is complete, the shed itself should also become a part of your backyard decor. Since it's part of the landscape, get creative and give it some charm with a coat of paint, flower boxes or a little garden.
