At this time of the year, the days are becoming shorter and darker. But rather than mourn the loss of those long sunny days and colourful bloom-filled gardens, bring pops of bright colour indoors! Here are a few tips to light up your home!

Art

No need to completely change your decor in order to achieve a new atmosphere. Add some sparkle to your living room, bedroom or corridor by adding a colourful piece of art. Consider a vivid painting or an impressive sculpture from a local artist!

Paint

You don’t have to paint the entire room! With the colour zoning technique, get the feeling of a whole new room by simply painting particular areas of your space. Remember, you should always follow the 60-30-10 rule, which implies a ratio of 60% as your main colour (your current one), 30 % as a secondary colour (a new and bright one) and 10% as an accent colour (integrated through accessories).

As for the second colour (30%), think of a tint of orange, such as Vitamin C orange (5006-4), an Auvergne Volcano blue (1292-3) or a Gloriosa yellow. (1103-4)

Texture

Add colour and texture at the same time! Renew your decor by replacing your current curtains with colorful ones and adding a new rug.

Also, don’t underestimate the impact of a revamped piece of furniture. A vintage dresser or an antique lamp could be adorable with a little colour lift, and will definitely make for a dynamic room.
