Decoration of the master bedroom is often set aside in favour of the common parts of the house. Here are some tips to give it the attention it deserves while adding some sparkle!

Lighting

A great way to revitalize your principal bedroom is to add interesting lighting. Other areas of our homes often require more task-oriented lighting, but the bedroom offers a great chance to experiment a little, and to add some drama. Add pretty lamps embellished with ornaments or of various sizes. Opt for soft and warm lighting that will provide a relaxing atmosphere

Hightlight the architectural features of your room. For example, accentuate all the charm of your vaulted ceiling by adding light. It is a good solution to reveal a new facet of the room.

Mirror

Reflective mirrored pieces give a master bedroom a certain sparkle. Mirrored surfaces reflect light and detail, adding complexity to a room. They can also trick the eye into making a space seem larger. A single mirrored chest can be added to any furniture suite to introduce an eclectic regal feel. A strategically-placed wall mirror can add airiness to a dark corner and give the illusion of a higher ceiling.

Bed

Don’t forget the bed! Adding some detail behind the bed is really key to making the space feel inviting. You could use the whole wall for lots of drama, by mounting wallpaper or paintable paneling.

A large stuffed headboard with tufting detail not only adds style, but comfort as well. Use bold or solid fabrics depending on your decor and the atmosphere you wish to create. Think outside the box by draping fabric over the bed for a fairytale feel, perfect for a child’s room or for a feminine twist to a classic headboard.
